System Administrator– Compute and Storage Specialist

About the Role: We are partnering with a premier trading firm in London to find a SysAdmin with a specialization in Compute and Storage. As a key player in the fintech space, this company processes vast amounts of data daily, empowering traders to monitor and manage commodities, securities, and investments in real-time and at scale. The ingestion pipelines leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver market-leading data insights and trading opportunities.

In this role, you will collaborate with a global team to design, build, and maintain compute and storage services that scale seamlessly with the company’s growth. Your expertise in Linux platforms, distributed storage systems, and performance optimization will be crucial in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of these systems. You will work across a range of environments, including bare metal, hypervisors, containers, and public cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

6+ years technology infrastructure expertise, particular focus on Linux administration. Expert config management experience: Chef or Ansible (Terraform welcome) Distributed storage systems knowledge and protocol know-how (NFS, GPFS, WEKA). Strong Python or Bash CI/CD and expertise in observability/distributed systems (e.g., Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana). Cloud platforms familiarity, particularly AWS and GCP.

Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable compute and storage solutions is the primary role here - contributing to the optimisation of performance and managing the capacity of distributed storage systems is the key goal. With key responsibilities involving the installation and configuration of hardware and software to ensure seamless integration with the existing infrastructure. You’ll need a keen eye for detail to enhance monitoring and alerting systems, improving observability and overall system health.
