Data Engineer

Ncounter is partnering with a highly specialised consultancy delivering advanced engineering and data-driven capabilities into secure Government and Defence programmes. We are looking for an SC Cleared Data Engineer to join a growing technical team focused on building scalable, production-grade solutions that underpin critical decision making.

This role is centred on hands-on engineering within secure environments, where you will design and develop systems that enable complex data to be ingested, processed, and utilised effectively. You will work across both software and data domains, contributing to robust platform development while collaborating closely with analysts, architects, and end users to solve real-world operational challenges.

You will take ownership of translating problem statements into well-structured technical solutions, working across ingestion, transformation, and delivery layers. The work involves integrating disparate data sources, developing reusable components, and ensuring data can be accessed and acted upon efficiently within tightly controlled environments.

Key experience:

• Active SC clearance and experience operating within secure or regulated environments
  • Strong coding background with at least one of the following: Python, Java, C# or JavaScript, alongside general software engineering principles
  • Experience building data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and orchestration of large datasets
  • Familiarity with handling structured and unstructured data at scale, including data modelling and integration patterns
  • Ability to break down complex problems and work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Exposure to analytical workflows, data exploration, or consulting-style delivery within project environments
