schools team in action

Schools work

At ncounter we are passionate about performing arts. We believe that the ability to create and express ourselves through music and dance is one to be celebrated and releases self-confidence in young people we work with. We aim to realise our vision of seeing young people live lives of real freedom by using workshops and lessons which cross multiple curriculum areas to explore how the arts are connected to wider social and spiritual issues.

Our full time, professional schools team provide day workshops for large groups or lessons for individual classes which can be tailored in advance to the needs of the school. Assemblies are also a great way for students to be introduced to us, so we frequently perform and talk briefly about who we are and the work we will be doing in their school.

Hero Next Door are the core of our schools team, a band which has substantial experience working with young people. Their teaching includes culturally relevant music, dance and positive lyrics, as well as discussions based on their own contemporary lived experience of faith.

We support the National Curriculum for music, the PE, RE/RS and PSHE National Frameworks, support the five outcomes of Every Child Matters and SEAL. We will meet with teachers before a school visit to develop content which fits with ongoing schemes of work.

As an organisation we strive for excellence in all we do, so we endeavour to make sure the quality of our schools work is as good as we can make it for both the pupils and staff of the schools we work in. We have consulted professional teachers and education advisors on the quality of our work and the schools offering is put together by professionals who are gifted at communicating with young people.
